Seeking new Board Members

We are seeking new Board Members to join our team until October 2026. Given our organization’s current needs, we are seeking individuals with strong community connections and community organizing skills.

Our Office Hours Are Changing!
Starting in January 2024, our walk-in office hours will be changing!
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday will remain as 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, but Wednesdays will be moving to 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM! Meetings with caseworkers can still be scheduled for 9 AM to 5 PM.

Who Do We Serve?
We can provide legal help and information about legal rights to anyone who lives in East Scarborough, from Midland Avenue east to the Pickering border, and from Steeles in the north, to Lake Ontario in the south.

Who are SCLS?
SCLS was founded in 1981 as a community legal clinic to provide "poverty law" services. Poverty law includes work in areas of law that are particularly important for low-income people. We are run by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by members of the community. Our funding comes from Legal Aid Ontario, an agency that handles the funding for all legal aid services in the province. The community legal clinics are independent corporations that decide their own priorities for service, and are able to advocate for people who are fighting government decisions such as a denial of disability benefits.
